Maryland Food and Agricultural Resiliency Mechanism Grant Program (MFARM) - FY25


The Maryland Food and Agricultural Resiliency Mechanism Grant Program (MD FARM) helps people who are food insecure while providing a market for farmers and seafood providers.

The grant program allows Maryland’s food banks, charitable emergency food providers, and eligible nonprofits to purchase agricultural/seafood products from providers listed in the Certified Local Farm and Fish Program and deliver it to Maryland families in need throughout the year.

Eligibility

  • Maryland food banks, charitable emergency food providers and mission-driven nonprofits with a focus on food insecurity\food access that are registered with Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation and are in good standing to do business in Maryland. An official W-9 form will be required by all applicants to include in their application. This allows MDA to verify an organization’s name, address, and tax identification number. It is important that the address included on the W-9 form matches the address of the organization receiving the grant award.

Amount

  • Funding Availability: $200,000 

  • Minimum Request: $5,000

  • Maximum Request: $40,000

  • Funding Formula: 80% of the grant amount can go towards food costs; 20% can go towards transportation/distribution costs.

  • Eighty percent of the funds shall be disbursed upon execution of the Agreement between MDA and grant recipient, while the remaining grant funds shall be disbursed after grant recipient has submitted a satisfactory final program and final report.

Matching Funds  

No specific match is required. 

Reporting Requirements 

Grantees are required to record expenditures and submit a final report with the MDA.

  1. Create a Maryland OneStop Account

    If you do not have a Maryland OneStop account click Register in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Enter your first name, last name, email address, and create a password, then click Register.

    Once you have submitted your information to create an account you will receive an email from OneStop Support. Click the "Verify Your Email" button in the email.

    Once you have submitted your information to create an account you will receive an email from OneStop Support. Click the "Verify Your Email" button in the email.

  4. Submit your grant application by the deadline

    You will be notified through OneStop of the status of your grant application.

What Happens After Submission

  1. Review and Approval

    MDA conducts a Due Diligence check on all Applicants to confirm eligibility, tax status, and standing with the IRS and the State of Maryland. Final approval of applications will be determined by the Secretary of Agriculture based on the recommendations from the Independent Grant Review Panel.

  2. Notification to Applicant

    All Applicants will be notified by email of their status through the OneStop account. Emails to Applicants approved for funding may include any changes in scope or budget.

  3. Grant Agreement

    Awardees are required to execute a grant agreement. MDA will email the grant agreement to grantee via email listed in OneStop. Funding will not be released until the Grant Agreement is signed by the Applicant.

  4. Reporting

    Grantees are required to record expenditures and file a final program and fiscal report with MDA.
